I like this a lot! It looks like a carnival of activity in the distance and he's (she's) the star. Looks great in BW.

Nice idea to reduce hdr to bw - this one looks good and the process sidesteps the skin tones problems.

- the CLICK HERE for your wares leads to a 404 - something needs to be fixed.

I couldn't agree more, and layering good parts of single exposures over an HDR backdrop is a great way to make a washed-out, bland or underexposed backdrop work WITH the subject to add that something extra.

Just like hackneyed purists rely on masking, filters, dodging and burning under the enlarger, I see these tools as "tricks of the trade" that all digital photographers should at least have some understanding of. And, as you know, it made for an outstanding prom photo!

I whole heartedly agree with your HDR argument against the ignorant bias some have. I don't know that I would have worded it in Elizabethan era soliloquy form, but for me, your image said it before you did. Thank goodness.
A great marriage of diverse processing techniques. And a hell of a prom photo.

Hmmm... I think that shutter speed made the shot. It's still quite sharp while showing movement. If it were faster, they would have looked like mannequins. This is a really great image. The sky is bothering me just a touch, especially where it meet her face. But love the movement and that shine on the floor.
