bio: Without divulging too many horrid details from the inner sanctum of the matrix of madness, I am Eric Bowers – avid photographer of various, sundry items seen on this site. A Kansas City native, I was born in the rather early nineteen-eighties, during the twilight of the Carter administration. The malaise continues to this day.

My photography subject matter these recent years has frequently been centered on urban landscapes and Kansas City’s built environment. And by now I’ll assume you are aware that Kansas City is a city in the state of Missouri. I’ve been fascinated quite some time now by urbanism, population density statistics, architecture, and the city in general. Upon the coming-of-age visits abroad, I began to notice the differences between post-war American suburbia - designed around the car, compared to the older and denser urban settlements designed around the human body. As a child I enjoyed taking photos, and eventually I began a love for cityscape photography as I got older.

I shoot with Canon equipment, using a Canon 5D digital SLR camera, and several accompanying Canon lenses. I am also a frequent proponent and even evangelist of HDR (high dynamic range) photography, as many of my images are prepared this way. I typically use Adobe Lightroom on Mac OS X for photo organizing and cursory edits, Photomatix Pro for HDR processing, and Adobe Photoshop CS3 for the final touches and whatever else. My digital darkroom takes the form of a Mac Pro, one of Apple’s desktop computers.

My favorite band of the nineties is probably Radiohead, although to give them credit, they haven’t retired yet. As for my favorite band this waning first decade of the two-thousands, it quite possibly could be Arcade Fire. I’m also into all of Vivaldi, and smatterings of all else. There is even one classical-period funeral dirge I like, along with subsequent remakes.
