Halloween night in New York.
That eveningĀ the really quick, wide-aperture lenses came in handy for these kinds of low-light people-focused photos.
Most everyone was in costume. This girl was. And I got the impression that the nerdish dude behind her was too. A nerd costume. And speaking of nerd costomes, I had bought a photographer’s vest at the B&H superstore in Manhattan the week I was there, and that combined with the backwards baseball cap, a lens bag and a tripod slung across my torso all made me look like a paparazzo, as it was pointed out by this one girl (not the one in this picture). We conversed and I expressed my view that the paparazzi represent the lowest form of photography. Another girl I talked to that night asked where I was from. I said Kansas City, Missouri - making sure they heard the Missouri after the Kansas City. “Oh, cool. I have a friend from Wisconsin.”
Yeh…
