- a shot from a bit of my wandering away from the gallery at First Friday, as the month of September kicked off. I say fragmented in the title because of the goofy and FUBARd way we Americans do urbanism - or at least the way we tried to retrofit the city into suburbia by wholesale demolition for either parking or pie-in-the-sky projects that never came to fruition. This is kind of how the Crossroads area of KCMO is - it’s come a long way but still has so many holes to get filled in - as seen here by the parking lot being used for a small concert, and the presence of people despite the over-dominance of parking in the land use mixture. This vitality happens once a month, but I think most of us would trade the pleasure of concerts in the parking lots once per month for a filled in city that’s active and healthy every day of the month.
