I am hearing consternation in a thread on the Macrumors forum reporting that the Atlanta Braves have joined the illustrious gaggle of slobbering plutocrats who lash out at photographers out of some idiotic and paranoid notion that competent photography is a threat to their trivial and petty little concerns. In other words, at some ballparks you cannot bring an SLR camera into the stadium without a press pass.
It can only be a matter of time before this odious policy makes its way to Kansas City’s Kauffman Stadium. I’d better get over there for more ballgame photos while I still can.
Of course, I must disclose that since the baseball stadiums can possibly be regarded as private property, then there is simply nothing a photographer can do. However considering the fact that Kansas City voted in 2006 to piss down the drain allocate hundreds of millions of dollars for stadium renovations, one would hopefully be able to photograph as one pleases. The Kansas City stadiums are owned by Jackson County, so hopefully this will never be an issue for using nice cameras with nice lenses at the ballpark.
Oh, and this is a photo from the Friday night Royals/Giants game back in June.
