Three handheld RAWs // HDR // Shutter: varied // Aperture: f/4.0 // Focal Length: 17 mm // ISO 100
This is one of my shots taken this afternoon in the Crossroads area.
Reaffirming what I already knew but apparently forgot, photography is all about tradeoffs. If I want to get multiple handheld sources for the HDR editor, I have to shoot with the widest aperture my wide angle lens will allow, at f/4.0. And I can forget about any higher focal lengths. And as much fun as this is, it’s a safer bet to shoot at a more midrange aperture and just do HDR from a single RAW instead. But of course three source images usually beats one as far as providing more raw data to work with in creating the final product. And, hand holding the camera for multiple sources requires a close subject in the foreground, and the background to be an insignificant part of the composition, otherwise the shallow depth of field will nearly ruin the photo.
