As a computer nerd, I sit prostrate in giddy elation that my new 8 core Mac Pro should arrive in a few more days. I would have it already, but Apple strangely sent me a dead machine the first time around. After spending an hour on the phone with Apple, they concluded that the machine I received last week was Dead On Arrival. When I took the machine to the Apple Store on the Plaza, they concurred with that assessment.
For the past three years I have used a Dell Dimension 4600C desktop system for all of my photographs. Last summer, in anticipation of its factory 120 gigabyte hard drive filling up, I slapped a 300 gigabyte drive in there. Now it is nearly full as well - so I figured it’s time for an entirely new desktop system. Incidentally, the Dell is in the repair shop for the week because its CPU fan has failed.
I cannot help but continue to refresh the Order Status page on Apple’s website to see if my replacement Mac Pro has shipped yet. Someone put me out of my misery.
